GE Vernova agrees to acquire Trench Group for $9 billion and add more than 3,000 employees

GE Vernova announced an agreement to acquire Trench Group from Triton Partners for the equivalent of approximately $9 billion, funded in roughly equal parts with cash and debt. Trench manufactures high- and medium-voltage bushings, instrument transformers and coils used by utilities and large power users. The company employs more than 3,000 people across 11 manufacturing sites in Europe, North America and Asia and serves more than 800 utilities and hyperscalers. GE Vernova expects the transaction to close in late 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and customary conditions. Trench is projected to generate about $1.9 billion in 2028 revenue at an approximately 36% adjusted EBITDA margin and has roughly $5 billion in backlog and framework agreements. The acquisition would place Trench inside GE Vernova's Electrification segment, particularly its Grid Systems Integration and Power Transmission businesses. Management says the combination will increase manufacturing capacity and vertically integrate an existing supplier as grid modernization, energy security and data-center electricity demand accelerate.
