Emvolon raises $22 million to launch its first commercial waste-to-fuel system

Emvolon announced a $22 million financing package combining Series A capital with federal and state grants. The MIT spinout plans to use the funding to deliver its first commercial-scale modular system for converting waste methane into biomethanol and to expand its organization. The commercial deployment follows a pilot with Montauk Renewables and is designed to scale toward 50,000 tons of annual output across multiple sites through their joint venture. Emvolon also has a multi-year first-purchase arrangement under which up to $450 million of biomethanol and liquid fuels could be distributed through Freepoint Commodities. The company says additional modular plants are planned for North American and international waste-gas sites. It also added veteran energy executive Eric Bensaude to its board to advise on global commercialization. Funding supports a shift from pilot validation into repeatable industrial deployment rather than research alone.
